Help for Orphan Children Organization has continued its efforts to help the people of Parwan province who suffered severe devastating floods last year. Many families lost loved ones including young children and have been suffering ever since, living in extreme conditions. On August 25, 2021, HOCO’s medical team decided to provide health services and medicine to those who have been displaced and affected by the floods. (August 25, 2021) (14)
Due to dire living conditions in Afghanistan, many families do not have enough to eat this Ramadan. Because of your support and donations, this Ramadan HOCO held a distribution event on July 10, 2021, through the use of distribution cards to provide food packages (Rice, Beans, Flour, & Oil ) to over 160 families in need. Help for Orphan Children Organization (HOCO) has always been an advocate for children’s rights. That is why members of the board from HOCO’s main office in Afghanistan attended national and international meetings about safeguarding the rights and protection of Afghan children. The members also participated in the inauguration of the “Policy of the Ministry of Interior Affairs”.
As the colder months in Afghanistan are approaching, HOCO visited the Orphaned and Vulnerable Child Support Center (OVCSC) in Kabul, Afghanistan, and provided blankets, winter clothes, and supplies to the children who live there. The majority of the young children living at these centers are orphans who live with mental health illnesses or are affected by brain injury & paralysis.
Eid is a day of celebration for Muslims, especially Muslim children around the world. It is a day filled with immense happiness and joy. But, for many children, especially in Afghanistan, they are not able to celebrate these festivities.
